How to join the US army as an international student?

Joining the U.S. military is a dream for many international students. But international students are unaware of the requirements and qualifications of the U.S. army.

In my articles, I describe how an international student can join the United States Army.

An individual must have entered the U.S. no more than 30 days prior to the course’s start date and have departed the U.S. no more than 60 days after the course has ended to receive a student work visa.

NOTE: International students register for the U.S. army only if they are permanent residents.

In every international student’s mind, the first question is:

How can I apply to the United States Army as an international student?

Before applying to the US army, you should know that you have to be a legal US resident.

Another way to join the US Army is through the program known as MAVNI. Its is your way of qualifying

for a position in the US Army only because you aren’t a resident of the country.

But I’m advising you that it would be better for you if you could get an American passport even if you do not yet have the card. This is because it will be easier for you to get an entry-level position in the army if you don’t have any issues.

What program is the MAVNI in?

Mavni program

The Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI) program is designed for international students who are interested in joining the United States Army as a commissioned officer.

The program offers a competitive application process, full tuition assistance, and a stipend for living expenses while attending classes at one of the nation’s top military colleges.

Since its inception in 2009, the MAVNI program has recruited more than 1,000 officers into the U.S. Army.

Do you have to have a green card to enlist in the US army?

Green card to enlist in the United States Army

A lot of people seem to think that you need a green card to enlist in the United States Army. This is not actually the case. In fact, you only need a valid ID and proof of residence to enlist. If you are already in the United States, there is no need for a visa to register.

Though this is a general guideline, exemptions to this rule do exist. If you are under 18 years of age, you will be required to have a parent or legal guardian sign off on your initial Natal Right paperwork.

Requirements for joining US army for international students

There are a few requirements international students must meet in order to be eligible for military service. Their citizenship and their country of origin will be taken into account.

A broad variety of criteria must be met by non-US students before they can seek. They must also be tested to make sure their health and wellbeing meet the requirements for admittance to the university. In addition, some countries require students to demonstrate proficiency in the local language.

  • Age: Between 17 and 35 years old
  • Medical, Moral, Physical: Physically fit, and in good health and moral standing, medically speaking
  • Citizenship: A permanent resident of, or citizen of, the United States with a valid green card
  • Education: A high school graduate or equivalent, this person is a high school graduate
  • Test Score: The minimum score on the exam is 362 out of 500 points, but many recruits who pass score well above that mark. The highest score ever recorded was 496 out of 500 points

Can F1 Students Join the Military?

F1 visa: F1 visa is a type of visa that allows foreign nationals to come to the United States to study or work

F1 students are often advised not to join the military due to their lack of experience. However, there are a few exceptions.

F1 students who have obtained an English degree can join the military as interpreters or translators. The same is true for students with a degree in engineering, mathematics, or science. Other than these specialized cases, most F1 students would be better off finding another way to serve their country.

Can a US citizen sponsor an international student?

US citizen sponsor an international student

Yes, a U.S. citizen can sponsor an international student for a visa. The first step is to find an accredited school that will accept the student.

Once you have found a school, you will need to provide proof of financial support. You will also need to provide proof of your relationship with the student.

This can be done by providing copies of documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or other family documents.

Conclusion:

Being a US army could be an aspiration for many people who are not US citizens, but ultimately, the US does not allow anyone to be in the armed service if they are not citizens and do not have legal residency. So the most effective way to secure a green card is to join the armed service. Thus, you could say to an international student who wishes to join the army: On the one hand, yes, you can do that. However, on the other hand, the answer is no.
